EMDR Counseling

An evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess traumatic or distressing memories so they no longer control your present life.

What Does EMDR Counseling Help With?

EMDR helps individuals who continue to feel affected by distressing or traumatic experiences, even when those events are in the past. It is commonly used to address trauma and PTSD, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, emotional overwhelm, and tension held in the body. This approach is especially helpful when certain memories or triggers continue to interfere with daily life and emotional well-being.

Typical Results Clients Experience

Clients often experience a reduction in trauma-related symptoms such as anxiety, emotional reactivity, and intrusive memories. Many report improved emotional regulation, a greater sense of calm, and increased resilience. Over time, painful memories tend to feel less intense and less controlling, allowing clients to feel safer, more grounded, and better able to move forward with hope.

How EMDR Counseling is Structured.

EMDR sessions are structured, collaborative, and paced with care. Therapy follows a guided eight-phase process that includes history-taking, preparation, memory processing through bilateral stimulation, and stabilization. Sessions typically last 45–50 minutes, with longer sessions available when clinically appropriate, and each session ends with grounding to support emotional safety.
